DesignTalks Reykjavík is back!

The international conference and signature event for DesignMarch festival, DesignTalks is back on the agenda and will take place in Harpa on the 4th of May.

DesignTalks 2022 explores how design and architecture can help imagine and propose alternative futures and promote change. The programme will be an exploration of resilient approaches, regeneration and reconnection with traditional crafts and indigenious wisdom, experiments rewiring and rethinking current systems, the design of data and information, extended realities and speculation into the future as a form of creative and critical reflection of the now.

DesignTalks is curated by Hlin Helga Guðlaugsdóttir and this year the event will be moderated by Marcus Fairs, editor-in-chief and founder of Dezeen, connecting the conversations to a wider context, highlighting its relevance to an audience across professional fields.

Marcus Fairs, editor-in-chief and founder of Dezeen is the first digital journalist to be awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Institute of British Architects and in 2018 he was named one of the 1,000 most influential people in London by the Evening Standard. A 3D design graduate, Marcus began his journalism career writing for architecture title Building Design and later for Building, where he rose to deputy editor. He launched Dezeen at the end of November 2006 and is widely regarded as the most influential and popular design website in the world. Marcus has written books like Twenty-First Century Design, Green Design, Dezeen Book of Ideas and Dezeen Book of Interviews. 

Hlín Helga Guðlaugsdóttir has curated DesignTalks since 2015. A designer, curator and consultant, with a rich portfolio of facilitating, initiating and leading dialogues and creative collaborations, Hlín has curated a multitude of international exhibitions, think-tanks and conferences. Hlín has held positions at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, Konstfack University of Arts and Crafts, Stockholm, Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship and led courses at various institutions around the world such as Parsons New School of Design, New York, Hong Kong Polytechnic and University of Singapore. Currently, Hlín is leading creative projects at the Icelandic experience design studio, Gagarín.

DesignTalks is the signature event of DesignMarch since 2009, illustrating the spectrum of design and architecture, its relevance, power and potential in society, today - and tomorrow. DesignMarch 2022 festival will happen May 4th-8th.
