Outstanding design celebrated at the Icelandic Design Awards 2023
The Icelandic Design Awards 2023 took place in Gróska on the 9th of November celebrating outstanding design and architecture for a full house. The day began with a good insight into the nine outstanding and diverse projects nominated for the award in three different categories, followed by the award ceremony and celebration.
Sunnefa Gunnarsdóttir, architect and product designer Logi Pedro, were the hosts of the day leading a conversation with all the nominees and then presented the award ceremony, which took place in front of a full house of excited guests.
The winners of this year’s awards were: Angústúra book publisher, which was received recognition for Best Investment in Design, Sigrún Guðjónsdóttir “Rúna”, ceramist was the recipient of the Honorary award of the year, Airbag by Flétta for Fólk Reykjavík won Product of the Year, Edda, center for Icelandic studies by Hornsteinar Architects won Place of the Year and Pizzatime by Flétta and Ýrúrarí won Project of the Year.
The Icelandic Design Award took place for the 10th time this year, in the presence of a large crowd who celebrated outstanding design. To mark the occasion, the award categories increased to three: Product // Place // Project with one winner in each category.
The Icelandic Design Award honours the best Icelandic design and architecture annually. The importance of design in society, culture and business has been growing steadily, and it is therefore vital to increase the understanding of good design and highlight the value of quality.
The Icelandic Design Award is established by Iceland Design and Architecture in collaboration with the Iceland University of the Arts, the Museum of Design and Applied Art, Promote Iceland, The Housing and Construction Authorities of Iceland, SI - the Federation of Icelandic Industries and Gróska.
