Pizza Time and Hæ/Hi: VOL III Welcome at 3daysofdesign

The Icelandic Embassy in Denmark teams up with the Iceland Design and Architecture center, producer of the DesignMarch festival and Business Iceland to present different exhibitions showcasing the diversity of Icelandic design at 3daysofdesign. 

In the foyer of the Embassy Hæ/Hi: Designing Friendship, a collaborative project featuring Icelandic and Seattle based design studios, will be addressing the acts that take place, and the objects associated with, arriving and departing, greetings and goodbyes.

Hae/Hi: Designing Friendship, a collaborative project featuring Icelandic and Seattle based design studios, will be addressing the acts that take place, and the objects associated with, arriving and departing, greetings and goodbyes, in their third exhibition, Hae/Hi: Vol III | Welcome. 

Participating studios were asked how the experience of entering or exiting a home can be elevated to evoke a sense of comfort and relaxation to guests as well as ourselves while embodying the spirit of friendship and hospitality.

Designs from Amanda Ringstad, Fin, fruitsuper, Gabriel Stromberg, Little Anomaly, Studio Hanna Dis Whitehead, Hugdetta, John Hogan, Jón Helgi Hólmgeirsson, Seisei Studio, Sidona Bradley, Theodora Alfredsdottir, Thorunn Arnadottir, Weird Pickle will be featured.

Hungry? Get ready for Pizza Time with Flétta and Ýrúrarí

Icelandic designers Flétta and Ýrúrarí will bring Pizza Time to this year’s 3daysofdesign where guests can order freshly felted wool pizzas made of leftovers from the Icelandic wool industry.

The scene of the performance is built around an electrical felting machine that plays the role of a pizza oven while the designers work as pizza makers. Guests will be able to participate by ordering a pizza from a menu, or by selecting toppings to customize the order to their own taste and bring home a one of a kind wool pizza. 

Pizza Time with Flétta and Ýrúrarí debuted at DesignMarch 2023 in downtown Reykjavík where guests of the design festival lined up to take part in this one of a kind pizza experience. The same year Pizza Time won “Project of the year” at the annual Icelandic Design Awards.

Flétta and Ýrúrarí, the creative minds behind Pizza Time are Icelandic designers celebrated for their approach to design and sustainability. They share a commitment of pushing the boundaries of traditional design norms and reimagining everyday objects and overlooked materials, transforming them into one of a kind objects and experiences.

Turnaround! Flétta in collaboration with Icelandair uses a diverse range of materials from the old uniforms, that have completed the original role, everything from clasps and hats, ruffles and buckles, to cravats and collars. They put a creative spin on the question – can you make bags from uniforms?

The exhibitions are produced by the design teams in  collaboration with Iceland Design and Architecture, the Icelandic Embassy in Denmark, Business Iceland and Icelandair.
